Dora Catherine Meyer, age 86, of Maquoketa, IA, passed away on February 5, 2025, at Mill Valley Care Center, in Bellevue. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Preston, IA. Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 9, at the church, as well as one hour prior to Monday's Mass. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, in Maquoketa.
Dora was born January 4, 1939 in Bellevue, IA, the daughter of Victor and Martha (Feller) Burken. She graduated from Goose Lake High School with the class of 1958. On December 28, 1963, Dora married Wayne A. Meyer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Clinton, IA. The young couple purchased a farm north of Preston, IA, and Dora began married life as a housewife. It wasn't long before she became a mother; being blessed with two children, Todd and Julie. Dora and Wayne farmed that land for 37 years, before ultimately moving to Maquoketa in 2002.
